I Love Lucy
I know it's a terrible pun, but I couldn't resist. Shortly after Memorial Day, my husband and I adopted a basset hound dog named Lucy. A friend of ours found her while vacationing in Cumberland. Lucy was in bad shape, with no collar or identification, hundreds of ticks, and a very skinny belly. Our friend, able to find neither her owners nor an animal shelter to take her in, brought her to Ohio, to the vet, and eventually to our house. (We'd been thinking about getting a dog for a while, and ironically were especially interested in basset hounds.) Here's the Lucy girl! She has been a delight so far.

That's so great! How wonderful for Lucy and for you! Rescued pets make the best pets...as my big ole yellow cat Ike will tell you himself. My son Chris and his sweetheart Stephanie found Ike prowling around one of those check-cashing places in the rain that came to Texas the weekend of Hurricane Ike last year. He had no collar, was an adult male, not neutered, yada yada yada...he now lives happily with me (and he's neutered and has a collar, among other things)...pets enrich our lives. Congratulations!
